If you look up talk show host, Johnny Carson is literally the definition. He become the most iconic host in TV history over his 30 years with The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. So, we’re not here to talk about cosmetic surgery and other frivolous stuff. We want to get down to the core of this bold personality. Now, we know not everything in his history was squeaky clean. Don’t worry, we’ll get to it all.

Firstly, we have to reiterate how great of an influence Carson had on the public. Listen to this, he caused national panic after a joke about a toilet paper shortage on his show in 1973. Yes, he really sparked a panic from his joke. Before he knew it, stores were cleared of their toilet paper supplies. Thus, he created an actual shortage! It was not until several weeks after that the panic subsided.

Once Johnny Carson established himself, he and the Swanson family tried to start a fast-food chain. The restaurant was called “Here’s Johnny’s!” Besides using Carson’s notoriety, the chain promised to have food ready at half the time of other fast food restaurants. Unfortunately, the chain ran into financial trouble very early. Actually the company was even sued in 1974. Yeah, this definitely was not Carson’s most successful venture.
