In Bad Taste
After seeing the legendary icons Forrest encounters like JFK, John Lennon, Elvis, Richard Nixon and more, many wondered where one key figure was in the movie. Actually, Martin Luther King, Jr. was actually intended to be included, but later cut due to a fear of insensitivity. The crew shot a scene with police releasing dogs on King and his supporters, where Gump jumps in to distract the dogs with fetch. However, the director cut this scene because many thought it cheapened the injustices they were attempting to portray. Honestly, it was just in bad taste, but you can find this scene on the special collector’s DVD edition.

Accent Inspiration
When people think of the film, Hank’s iconic accent immediately comes to mind. In fact, Hanks worked hard to perfect it and needed outside inspiration. He used his costar Michael Conner Humphreys, the young Forrest, to perfect his accent. That young actor also went on to lead a successful career, and earned a Young Artist Award. What a talented cast!
