Davis’ 1968 ceremony of receiving the medal for his Vietnam service. Thus, Tom Hanks’s face was superimposed onto Davis’ body, appearing to stand with Lyndon B. Johnson.

Between its box office success and praise from critics, we know these actors were probably kicking themselves for turning down roles. There were many other choices for Bubba initially. John Travolta, Ice Cube, Dave Chappelle and David Alan Grier all turned down the role. For Ice Cube, he did not feel comfortable portraying someone who was disabled. While, Chappelle honestly explained he did not predict a successful future for the movie.
