Being John Malkovich

Of course, the entire movie, Being John Malkovich is quite bizarre and quirky. Thus, it may not be surprising that they let a random incident into the final cut. While shooting a scene, a drunk extra happened to throw a can at Malkovich, aiming at his head, as he shouted, “Hey, Malkovich! Think fast!” Actually, the director loved how the scene played out with this unplanned incident.

The Usual Suspects

Although some directors prefer their actors to have more freedom with line interpretation and improvisation, director Brian Singer is not one of them. When Brian Singer directed The Usual Suspects, he wanted everyone to stick to the script. However, he did let them have freedom in one particular scene. During the line up, now an iconic image from the movie, the actors freely improvised. Yes, even that moment when someone passed wind and the officer saying to Del Toro, “in English please.”
