Down To Earth
Jordanians celebrated the royal couple when they heard about their chosen residence. As a wedding present from the late king, the couple were gifted an apartment in the suburbs of capital city Amman. In fact, the royal couple prefers this apartment over the eight palaces in Amman, since it gives them a bit more normality in their hectic lives.
Naming His Successor
Just before the late King Hussein’s death, he got into disagreements with his brother, Hassan and publicly criticized him of abusing powers. Thus, he changed his successor to his firstborn son, Abdullah II. Thus, in 1999 when Abdullah II was named as the next King of Jordan, his wife became “Queen consort” of Jordan.
