Sam was just 18 years old when he lost his father due to a heart attack. When he died, Sam was not yet successful and did not get the chance to prove him wrong. However, this did not change Sam’s mind. If anything, he said it became a motivating factor in his career.

Alongside construction, he also took a role as a military man in the California National Guard (CALARNG). Sam says that joining the military helped him enhance his discipline and leadership skills. He also credits it for enabling him to have a deeper self-understanding.
