The Documentary
The 1912 national coal strike caused a sharp increase in the price of coal, which directly affected Ismay’s plans in building the Titanic. A 2017 documentary about the ship claimed that this lack of fuel helped contribute to a lack of measures that could have maybe helped prevent the ship from sinking.
More Budget Cuts
Unfortunately, this was not the only time that the ship’s construction faced budget cuts. The whole construction was quite complicated and misleading: from the outside, things seemed to be robust and secure, but on the inside, there was a much weaker underbelly that was susceptible to dangers.
